Pensavo a quei ritmi, a quei colori, a quei sapori. Corpi, nudi e sfuocati. Nothing but the skin ho intitolato (www.thedummystales.com/nothing-but-the-skin/). Vedere in profondità.

THE DUMMY REVEALS ITSELF WHILE WEARING EMPORIO ARMANI GREY JACKET

Today I have thought about my grandparents and my childhood which I spent in the verdant and rolling countryside. I have thought about those rhythms, colours and flavours, I have thought about these images that represent distant memories which are vivid in my heart though. I remember that day in which I felt the need to bring into my adulthood a piece of my childhood. It was a way to pay tribute to the many good teachings I received as well as to those who taught and schooled me with love, patience, grace, great dedication and devotion. This is when my grandpa explained to me that we do not have to waste anything, since starvation is such a bad thing. He himself suffered from hunger during the second world war. He taught me that proportions in food as in maths, follow iron rules and not airy-fairy concepts. If he got his sums wrong, his bakery would have gone to pot. Likewise, if he got his sums wrong food-wise I mean, in other words, if he ate too much or too little, his body would have gone to the dogs. On the whole, these are essential matters in life. He told me that while he was sitting at the kitchen table bent with age, just before passing me three slices of bread and one of thin and crumbly cooked ham. It is a matter of proportions, the ratio is one to three as much as it is a matter of fundamentals and basics of existence. I have tried to give voice to those teachings so as to make them lines of contemporaneity. From that, sprang out the interview to Sara Porro (www.thedummystales.com/sara-porro-is-essential/), who apart from being a brilliant writer is also a successful food blogger. She is a woman firmly anchored to the essential life values like work for instance. We talked about food as something that should go through a process of simplification. To be honest I looked at her closely and I felt deeply moved. Then, while I was meandering anxiously in my thoughts, I realised that an old mill wind mill stole my imagination and it was then when past memories came to mind (www.thedummystales.com/una-storia-di-pane-2/). However, this time, is Renata who makes bread, plays with yeast, water and scrap dough (www.thedummystales.com/easy-like-sunday-morning/). Finally, I wondered whether fashion is really essential and I came to the conclusion that is not at all. Especially that kind of fashion that these days is all the rage in blogs. Thus, what was good, cool and essential yesterday, today is bad, old and out of fashion. It seems that the latest fashion  changes constantly and as a consequence becomes obsolete rapidly, hence disposable. The relationship with this sort of fashion is like the one there is between a smartphone and a selfie, that is, a close-up as well as a thought that is neither structured nor constructive. This sort of stuff is neither fashion nor essential. In my fashion categories we find Carlo Branz’s mirages (www.thedummystales.com/i-miraggi-di-carlo-branz/). Provocative and out of focus nudes which I have named “Nothing but the skin” (www.thedummystales.com/nothing-but-the-skin/) . They portray my need to remove superstructures as much as infrastructures in order to see the light again and to be able to look at things in depth. Once again, it is a matter of proportions, one to one this time, which represents the equality of the two ratios hence the heart is to the brain as this journey is to essential.
