#DEFINE MADE IN ITALY

La creatività italiana, con tutta la sua ricchezza e tutta la sua poesia, diventa una narrazione di moda quando a darle forma sono le mani di questo giovane designer capace di trasformare un tessuto, un ricamo, un dettaglio in un racconto di sobria quanto sofisticata eleganza. Lui è Federico Blasutti e al debutto della sua prima collezione, Première, c’erano gli occhi della stampa a guardarlo con interesse e una certa attesa. Formatosi, dopo gli studi classici, alla facoltà di design del Politecnico di Milano, inizia la sua carriera professionale con una serie di collaborazioni, una tra tutte quella con Zegna Couture. Ma decide presto di andare per la sua strada, di camminare in solitaria, per dare forma unica alla sua abilità e alla sua visione, alla sua personale idea di femminile.

“La mia donna trae ispirazione dalle icone di un tempo ma diventa contemporanea nei miei abiti. E’ una donna urbana, cosmopolita, cittadina del mondo che pur mantiene inalterata quell’allure di un tempo passato. Sa essere elegante senza ostentare, senza esibire. Trovo che, guardando al passato, ci siano molti riferimenti femminili che rispecchiano questa mia idea di eleganza che è tutt’altro che esuberanza. Ecco, a me piace riprendere alcuni elementi del passato e riproporli in chiave moderna, nel contesto contemporaneo.”

Figure sinuose e sensuali che si animano nei volumi ricercati e nei tagli capaci di dare straordinaria enfasi al punto vita. Un omaggio alla donna e al suo corpo, esaltato con maestria nelle forme morbide di certe gonne a ruota o in quelle rigide di certi corpetti attillati, nei ricami e nei cristalli e in tutte le lavorazioni di indiscusso pregio. Pur nella difficoltà della congiuntura economica attuale e in un panorama nazionale che non ha voluto fare gran che per incentivare le imprese di casa a rimanere in Italia, Federico con coraggio inverte la rotta muovendosi nella direzione univoca di un prodotto artigianale, sartoriale, fatto con cura e dedizione. Non improvvisato, nemmeno approssimato, e neanche consegnato al tempo breve che una certa industria della moda, con i suoi dettami di stagione, vuole imporre.

Io credo che il Made in Italy sia il punto focale, la giusta strada da percorrere.

“E’ importante non distogliere l’attenzione dal concetto di artigianalità che solo le piccole imprese, le piccole realtà, possono garantire. Senza di quelle il Made in Italy non esisterebbe perché i processi di lavorazione del piccolo artigiano non possono essere replicati da nessuno e in nessuna parte del mondo. Ed è questa la nostra grande ricchezza.”

La riprova che questo sia un approccio vincente abita nella costruzione di rapporti qualificati e privilegiati con i fornitori, rapporti di vicinanza, di reciproco sostentamento. Sono le piccole aziende tessili del territorio, presidi stessi del territorio eretti a baluardo di una italianità che tenacemente vuole sopravvivere perché consapevole del suo inestimabile valore. Moda come arte, frutto anch’essa di un articolato processo creativo. La moda di Federico è quasi il prodotto di un artista che lavora con i colori, le forme, le architetture, la natura. Un mettere insieme ricerca e ispirazione per ricavarne, con mani sapienti di artigiano, pezzi unici di couture.

”Tante speranze per il futuro e altrettante sfide, per esempio riuscire a rendere più accessibile questo mio progetto. Riuscire a mantenere lo stesso livello di dettaglio sartoriale, gli stessi tessuti preziosi, la stessa lavorazione pregiata rendendo il tutto fruibile anche a un altro tipo di clientela. Un giusto compromesso insomma tra artigianale e industriale”.

Una prosa che nasce nel cuore quella di Federico. Che ti contagia quando la ascolti e ti rapisce quando la indossi. Un tutt’uno vibrante di emozione e pensiero.

THE DUMMY MEETS FEDERICO BLASUTTI #DEFINE MADE IN ITALY

Italian creativity with all its great richness and poetry, turns into a narration of fashion whenever the mind and hands of this young designer give shape to textiles and fabric alike. You can notice his talent when it comes to give shape to an embroidery or a detail for instance. This is why whatever this guy does in fashion becomes a way to tell the world a story about something which is simple, sophisticated and elegant too. This is Federico Blasutti, who when he made his debut as a designer and had a fashion show to unveil his collection, Première, was totally in the press spotlight. The people there, were champing at the bit to watch it.

After having graduated from high school in classical studies, he continues his studies in higher education at the Polytechnic of Milan where he studies design. There, he starts his professional career working in close collaboration with other people and particularly with the Italian fashion luxury house Zegna Couture. Nonetheless, he decides to go his own way in order to be able to express fully his talent as much as his notion of femininity in fashion.

“My woman is inspired by icons in days of yore and becomes contemporary in my clothing. She’s urban and cosmopolitan, a citizen of the world that like her quondam icons keeps on being charming and alluring at the same time. She is a lady who knows how to be elegant without flaunting it though. Looking at the past, there are many little things in femininity that mirror what is my notion of elegance, which is not exuberance at all. I like taking some elements from the past and utilise them in a modern context.”

Sinuous and sensual figures that are animated by the refined volumes and the elegant cut which emphasise extraordinarily the waistline. This is a way to pay tribute to woman and to her body, which is extolled by the tailored prowess expressed through the shape of certain skirts such as ball gowns, fitted bodices, embroideries and crystals too. Despite the economy difficulties in a country, Italy, which has not done much to incentivise local as well as national companies to stay here, Federico goes against the tide. He designs and produces in Italy handcrafted sartorial clothing made with dedication and devotion at the same time. I am talking about neither something shoddy nor something made in haste or in a makeshift manner that will not last long as it often happen in the fashion industry nowadays. Rather, I am talking about something which is top-notch, the crème de la crème in this field.

“I strongly believe that the Made in Italy is the key point and the overarching argument at the same time. It is paramount to keep on paying attention to the concept of craftsmanship that just small artisanal companies can guarantee these days. In fact, without them, the genuine Made in Italy label and manufactures would not exist since nobody anywhere in the world could ever replicate the fine workmanship of an artisan. And this is our asset and strength too.”

Further confirmation that this is the successful approach is visible in the way relationships with suppliers are built. In fact, with them, Federico develop a close rapport based upon trust, reliability and mutual support too. Small artisanal companies are regarded as a sort of bastion of Italianness which tenaciously is trying its hardest to survive as it knows its inestimable value. Fashion, like art, is the outcome of a well-structured creative process. Federico’s fashion is the product of somebody who works with colours, shapes, architecture and last but not least nature. His fashion is a rich blend of research, creativity and inspiration which, thanks to an artisan’s skilful and learned hands, brings forth unique and fine couture clothing.

“Many hopes, dreams as well as challenges for the future, like making this project of mine more accessible, yet, keeping our excellent sartorial quality. This means, keep  selecting and utilising precious fabrics, the rich sartorial details alongside the efficient and meticulous production process. We are looking for the right compromise between the artisanal and the industrial so as to make the product accessible to a broader clientele.”

Federico’s poetry comes from the heart. It is contagious when you listen to him, as much as it enraptures you when you wear it. The cool and positive vibe along with emotions and thoughts form a complete and coherent whole.
